You have the option to connect a customer device in the form of the SmartCollect stand with a screen that meets your customers in the store. Here they can enter the last 4 digits of the parcel number - regardless of the parcel distributor.

On the storage device, you receive a notification so you already have the parcel in your hand the first time you meet your customers at the counter. No more long queues at the parcel shop.

SmartCollect is a warehouse management system that a GLS Parcel Shop can use for managing parcels in their storage.

SmartCollect is only works for use in the local individual Parcel Shop, as it can only show provide a shelf location in for the specific particular Parcel Shop.

SmartCollect also offers a tablet solution for the Parcel Shops’ recipients, in order to notify employees, that a recipient customer is ready to pick up a parcel.

We have no interest in collecting data from parcel distributors other than GLS.

On this background, we have taken the following precautions:

  • We don’t ask the Parcel Shops to provide us with information on which distributors are used for the SmartCollect parcel handling.
  • The recipient cannot, and is not required to, choose a parcel distributor on the SmartCollect tablet.
  • We only collect the last 6 digits of the parcel number of a parcel, to allow the Parcel Shop employees to identify the location of a parcel on a shelf. The 6 digits are all encrypted.
  • We don’t collect any data connected to other parcel distributors, such as parcel amounts, consignees or shipper data.
  • We don’t use any of the collected data connected to the parcel distributors for statistical or analytical purposes.
  • The data is deleted after 30 days.

We don't collect nor do we have access to any data connected to the parcel recipients, that use a different delivery provider than GLS.
