GLS Spain recognizes startups committed to innovation and sustainability

Madrid, May 30, 2025. GLS Spain announced yesterday the winners of the first edition of the LAB4LOGISTICS Challenge, an initiative launched together with Menttoriza to promote innovation in the logistics and transportation sector.

At the event held at GLS Spain's Madrid KM0 facilities, the five finalist startups presented their most innovative proposals for the logistics sector.

From the five finalists, the jury selected three winners for their disruptive and sustainable solutions aimed at transforming modern logistics:
ARCA took first place, followed by Box2Box in second, and Shift EV in third.

The five finalist projects were:

ARCA: Deploys a network of ultra-dense smart lockers in urban areas to ensure fail-safe deliveries and reduce logistics-related emissions.
Box2Box: Offers an innovative on-demand storage service combining pickup, storage, and door-to-door delivery.
Ubyko: Develops automated micro logistics hubs for last-mile delivery, integrating robotics, sensors, and digital experiences.
Shift EV: Pioneers in converting combustion vehicles into electric ones through their proprietary Electrofitting™ technology and fleet management solutions.
Cargoffer: A digital platform that connects shippers and carriers to reduce empty kilometers and optimize road transport efficiency.

“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with these visionary startups. Each of these projects reflects a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability—values we share at GLS Spain. We are confident that, with our support, they will be able to develop their ideas and make a significant contribution to the future of the logistics sector,” said Roberto Martínez, General Manager of GLS Spain, during the awards ceremony.

According to José Luis Nieto, President of Menttoriza Hub, “The LAB4LOGISTICS Challenge shows how collaboration between large companies and startups can deliver real and transformative solutions for the sector. At Menttoriza, we are committed to supporting entrepreneurial talent from its earliest stages, and seeing the impact of these proposals reinforces our mission.”

Javier López, Head of the Logistics Vertical at Menttoriza, emphasized:
“We were positively surprised by the outstanding quality of the proposals received in this first edition of the LAB4LOGISTICS Challenge. The startups demonstrated not only strong technical and innovative capabilities, but also a deep understanding of the real challenges facing the logistics sector. It’s clear we are witnessing a new generation of entrepreneurs with solutions ready to make a positive and transformative impact on the transportation and logistics industry.”

The LAB4LOGISTICS Challenge, launched by GLS Spain in collaboration with Menttoriza, aims to foster talent and innovative ideas in logistics and transportation. The initiative addresses key industry challenges—such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and sustainability—through an open innovation approach. The program not only offers visibility to participating startups but also provides a growth environment through specialized mentoring and support in developing strategic, business, and marketing plans for the winning projects.
