Practical applications

Cross-Border – Fast Direct Delivery
Seller: An online store selling natural cosmetics.
Situation: A customer from Germany orders a set of cosmetics from Poland and wants a fast and convenient delivery.
Solution: While placing the order, the customer selects delivery to a parcel locker near her residence. The package is delivered within two business days. Upon delivery, she receives an email notification and picks up the parcel the same day.

E-commerce – Convenience for Individual Customers
Seller: An international music store.
Situation: A customer from Italy orders a vinyl record online but is often not home to receive the parcel from the courier.
Solution: During checkout, the customer selects a nearby pickup point that is open until late in the evening. Once the package is delivered to the point, the customer receives an SMS notification with a pickup code and collects the parcel at a convenient time.
Returns made easy, fast, and stress-free – simple solutions across Europe!
International returns are just as easy as sending a parcel. Thanks to our extensive network of parcel lockers and pickup points, returns can be made at a convenient location for customers, no matter the country.
How does it work?
Return with a label generated by the sender
In this method, the seller attaches a ready-made return label to the package. If the customer decides to return the goods, all he has to do is place the product in its original packaging, stick the label on the package and send it to the shipper of his choice.
Return with a label generated by the returns portal.
In this case, the customer initiates the return process through a dedicated returns portal provided by the vendor or courier company. After logging in and entering the necessary order information, the customer generates a return label, which is then printed and affixed to the package. Alternatively, for label-free returns handling, the customer can write a return code on the package and ship the package without printing a label.
Return with a label generated by the sender.
In this method, after requesting the return of goods, the seller sends the customer a return label electronically, usually by e-mail. The customer can print it out, place it on the package and post the package at the appropriate point. However, if the vendor handles tagless returns, the customer can use the return code and send the package without printing and affixing the label.
FAQ
What types of parcels can I send using the SDSI service?
With SDSI, you can send domestic and international parcels to pickup points and parcel locker in selected EU countries. The service supports both B2C (for individual customers) and B2B (for business partners) shipments.
Can SDSI be integrated with my store system?
Yes, SDSI can be integrated with many popular e-commerce platforms and ERP systems using the GLS API. With the integration, you can automatically generate shipment labels, track shipments and manage deliveries directly from within your system. If you need support with integration, please contact our technical team.: itservice@gls-poland.com or +48 61 628 01 01.
Can I configure different delivery methods depending on the recipient's country?
Yes, SDSI allows you to configure different delivery methods, including delivery to pickup points, parcel locker or directly to the customer's address depending on the availability of these options in your country. This allows you to tailor your services to your recipients' local preferences.
What data is required to correctly send a package using SDSI?
In order to correctly send a package, the following data are required: the recipient's name or company name, the address of the collection point or parcel locker, the phone number and e-mail address of the recipient. These data allow us to effectively notify the customer of the delivery and pick-up of the parcel.
How does the parcel returns process work in SDSI?
SDSI makes it easy to manage returns. The end customer can send a return parcel at any GLS pick-up point or parcel locker in their country. Return information is automatically transmitted to the sender, and the return tracking process works the same way as for shipped packages.
