Madrid, july 7, 2025.- One year ago, GLS Spain took a significant step in its commitment to inclusion and diversity by creating the Diversity Department. A year later, the company announces a 56% increase in the hiring of people with disabilities, establishing this policy as a core pillar of its corporate culture.
Since its creation in April 2024, the department has implemented a series of initiatives designed not only to foster an inclusive work environment but also to strengthen GLS’s social commitment. Through disability disclosure programs, specialized training for management and middle management, partnerships to attract diverse talent, outsourcing operations to Special Employment Centers (CEEs), and including diversity criteria in facilities tenders, GLS Spain has created a more enriching environment where every individual can thrive according to their abilities.
"We are proud of what we have achieved in this first year. We have enhanced inclusive policies in recruitment, training, onboarding, and the integration and retention of people with disabilities across all areas of our organization. Today, this has become a motivating value for our brand and a corporate source of pride that makes us socially more responsible and efficient," says Carolina López, Head of the Diversity Department.
In addition, GLS has established strategic alliances with Fundación ONCE to promote the hiring of people with disabilities and, in support of its agency network, with Fundación “la Caixa” through its ‘Incorpora’ Program. This initiative enables more than 550 GLS business partners across Spain to connect with 482 local social entities specialized in the employment integration of people with disabilities and/or those at risk of social exclusion, thus improving their employability.
As part of its support for inclusion, the company collaborates with Special Employment Centers at its operational platforms in Málaga and Tenerife. These centers are integrating companies that offer employment to individuals with a certified disability equal to or greater than 33%, allowing them to develop professionally, grow personally, and improve their social inclusion.
Goals for 2025
For this year, the department has set ambitious strategic goals such as training 100% of its staff on disability-related topics and replicating inclusive models in all corporate centers.
“We want GLS Spain to become a benchmark for workplace inclusion in the sector, and we are committed to expanding our inclusive practices across all areas of the company,” adds Carolina López.
The innovation of the Diversity Department lies in its strategic and cross-functional approach, offering a replicable and adaptable model across different regions, ensuring a positive impact on both staff and the company’s reputation.
With a firm commitment to furthering these advancements, GLS Spain is determined to create a work environment that not only celebrates diversity but integrates it sustainably into its corporate DNA.
Recognition for Inclusion Commitment
As a result of the work carried out during this first year, GLS Spain has received the MF Talent 2025 Award for Workplace Inclusion, a recognition granted by El Resurgir de Madrid to companies that stand out for their social impact and support for diverse talent. This award acknowledges the company's efforts for its strategic and sustainable approach to integrating people with disabilities, as well as for its innovative policies that promote a more inclusive organizational culture.
“This award is a recognition of the collective effort of the entire organization. It motivates us to continue advancing with responsibility, empathy, and ambition in our commitment to real and lasting workplace inclusion,” emphasizes Carolina López.
This distinction further strengthens GLS Spain's position as a socially responsible company, committed to equal opportunities and the construction of an increasingly equitable work environment.
