Madrid, July 28, 2026.- GLS Spain continues to strengthen the Out Of Home model as one of the main alternatives for parcel delivery. Currently, 20% of the company's deliveries in Spain are already made through its GLS Points network (parcel shops and smart lockers), reflecting consumers’ growing preference for delivery options that allow them to decide when and where to collect their orders.

To respond to this trend, the company has expanded its network to more than 10,000 parcel shops and smart lockers across Spain. This infrastructure offers greater flexibility to recipients while helping optimize last-mile distribution.

As part of this strategy, GLS Spain has accelerated the rollout of its own smart lockers, reaching 700 lockers across the country. The company also plans to continue expanding this network during the next financial year. One of the most significant projects is being developed in partnership with Metro de Madrid, involving the installation of smart lockers in all 19 stations on Metro Line 3. This initiative reinforces GLS Spain’s position as one of the pioneering companies integrating logistics solutions into public transport infrastructure, promoting more efficient and sustainable urban distribution.

The evolution of this model is also reflected in consumer shopping habits. According to the “Out Of Home Phenomenon” study conducted by GLS Spain, 64% of Spaniards who shop online have already used a parcel shop or smart locker to collect an order, consolidating this model as an increasingly common alternative to home delivery.

The study also highlights the positive impact this system has on local businesses: eight out of ten Spaniards believe that parcel collection through partner stores benefits local commerce, and more than half admit to making an additional purchase while collecting their parcel.

The flexibility offered by this model is also evident in recipient behaviour. Over the last year, 6.4 million GLS Spain users redirected the delivery of their parcel from home to a parcel shop or smart locker through channels such as the MyGLS app, WhatsApp or email.

"At GLS Spain, we continue strengthening our network of parcel shops and smart lockers because we believe flexibility has become a key element of the delivery experience. The fact that one in five deliveries is already made through this network demonstrates that this model meets consumers’ new needs. In addition to improving the recipient experience, it contributes to more efficient and sustainable distribution while generating a positive impact on local businesses," says Juan Sandes, Senior Manager Strategy, Out Of Home and Fulfilment at GLS Spain.

GLS Spain continues to invest in technology and infrastructure to optimise its operations and further develop logistics solutions that meet the evolving needs of businesses and consumers, reinforcing its position as a leader in last-mile delivery.
